19 - 26 Jul 2008, Sat - Sat. Pacific Crest Trail at Dewey Lakes. Wenatchee NF, Naches RD (Moderate Backpack) Work area is just S of Mt. Rainier, on the PCT. The Forest Service was so impressed with the bridge that we built here last summer that they have something else for us to build. Dewey Lakes make a perfect campsite for a weeklong vacation. Lots of places to roam, although beware of the elk that may want to join you. The project is puncheon building (elevated wooden walkway) and trail restoration. Just west of Dewey Lakes on the PCT a puncheon bridge needs to be replaced. Novice carpenters and neophyte trail workers are encouraged. Dewey Lakes are situated in a broad basin beneath Naches Peak, just off of Chinook Pass. The Pacific Crest Trail pass alongside the lakes as it proceeds north, looping around Naches Peak and across Highway 410. We will be camping at the lake. This is one the classic trails for out of town guests. Our work party starts at 10 am. Click here for more info.
