21 - 29 Oct 2011, Fri - 2nd Sat. North Fork Part 2. Angeles NF. Volunteers will join a Student Conservation Association crew to perform tread and switchback reconstruction as well as brushing. This area was in the Station Fire. There is the potential for chainsaw work clearing downed trees on the trail as well - only certified sawyers can perform chainsaw work, but swampers will be needed to help throw brush. Car camping will be at a non-developed site. Fitness requirement: Intermediate. Volunteers will hike 1-2 miles to the project site. There will be moderate elevation change over 500 ft and/or moderately physical work activities. This level is suitable for most volunteers who are in good physical condition; people who are physically active can perform at this level.
