23 Sep - 2 Oct 2011, Fri - 2nd Sun. North Fork. Angeles NF, near Santa Clarita, CA. Volunteers will join a Student Conservation Association to perform primarily tread and switchback reconstruction as this area was in the Station Fire, with some minor brushing too. Potential for chainsaw work clearing downed trees on the trail as well (only certified sawyers can perform chainsaw work). Car camping will be at a non-developed site. Fitness Requirement: Intermediate. Volunteers will hike 1-2 miles to the project site. There will be moderate elevation change over 500 ft and/or moderately physical work activities. This level is suitable for most volunteers who are in good physical condition. Most people who are physically active can perform at this level.
