4 - 12 Jul, Mon - 2nd Tue; 18 - 27 Jul, Mon - 2nd Wed; 1 - 10 Aug, Mon - 2nd Wed; and 15 - 24 Aug 2011, Mon - 2nd Wed. Tully Hole, Parts 1, 2, 3, 4. Inyo NF: Mammoth RD, near Mammoth Lakes, CA. Five volunteer positions are available to join the Student Conservation Association in performing basic maintenance on this beautiful section of trail in a four part series. This will include removing small rocks and tripping hazards, brushing, bucking down logs, and tread repair. Possible rock work including installing large rock check steps, repairing rock retaining walls, and installing rock water bars, and construction of some timber structures. *Please note: project location may change depending on rate of snow melt; we'll keep registered volunteers updated. Camping is backcountry with pack stock assistance. Fitness Requirement: Level 3. Advanced fitness levels. Volunteers will backpack in 11 miles to base camp and then hike 0.1 to 4 miles each day. This project is suitable for fit volunteers looking for a physical challenge. Other Things To Do in the Area: Plenty of lakes and creeks to swim and fish in, excellent hiking in the area.
