3 - 8 Jul 2011, Sun - Fri. Granite Chief Wilderness - Mobile. Tahoe NF: Truckee RD, near Truckee, CA. Two volunteer positions are available to work with a Student Conservation Association led crew. Project will entail logging out the trail as well as light, mobile basic tread and drainage and brushing/clearing work. This group will not have a stationary basecamp, instead they will be mobile in the backcountry throughout the project. Camping will be backcountry with hiking distance 5 miles to camp. Fitness Requirement: Level 3. Advanced fitness levels. Project may include a 2 to 6-mile hike to project site, backpacking, significant elevation change, strenuous work activities and/or need for prior backcountry experience.
