28 Apr - 5 May 2010, Wed - Wed. Sheep Fire (North of Swarthout Canyon Road). San Bernardino NF, Near Hesperia, CA. This area is located in the San Bernardino National Forest, near Hesperia, CA. Due to a recent burn in this area the PCT needs to be stabilized. Volunteers will join a Student Conservation Association crew to stabilize the tread with retaining walls. The crew will stay at Apple White Campground, a developed campground with campsites accessible by car. The crew will then hike in 1-3 mi daily to the worksite. This project is recommended for volunteers with intermediate fitness levels due to slight elevation change and/or moderate work activities. No experience necessary.
