19 - 26 Jul 2009, Sun - Sun. PCT Tie-in Trail: Donner Lake Rim Trailbuilding. Tahoe NF, Truckee-Donner Land Trust. (Moderately-strenuous, work at 7000 ft.) The new 23-mi section of multi-use trail, when complete, will encircle Donner Lake, tying into portions of the PCT, Donner State Park, and Truckee, CA. Trail work will involve clearing trees, brush, rocks, and various other tasks. Project will begin with an informal gathering at 3 pm 19 Jul at the Sierra Club's Clair Tappaan Lodge, located about 10 mi W of Truckee. Work will be Mon - Tue, Thu - Sat, starting at 9 am with a 20-30 min ride to the trailhead. Wed is an off-day, and project will end Sun after breakfast. The rustic lodge has a spacious living room and enormous fireplace a cozy library, and outdoor fire ring. Bunk beds are provided, bring your own sleeping gear. All meals are provided, vegetarian option available. Guests assist with daily kitchen chores requiring about a half hour each day. Trip cost is $645, deposit $100, apply via Trip Brochure.
