12 - 20 Oct 2010, Tue - 2nd Wed. Donner Summit. Tahoe NF, Near Truckee, CA. Volunteers will join the Northwest Service Academy AmeriCorps crew to reconstruct sections of the PCT south of Hwy 40 near Donner Summit. Work will involve clearing the trail of large rocks and reconstructing sections of the PCT. The crew will stay in the Jackson Meadows Barracks, which is a bunkhouse and is accessible by car. They will hike in 1-3 mi to the worksite each day. Elevation is approximately 7000 to 7500 ft. No experience necessary; tools, training, and food will be provided. This project is recommended for volunteers with advanced fitness levels due to significant elevation change and/or strenuous work activities. Advance registration is required.
