10 - 17 Oct 2010, Sun - Sun. Rockhouse Basin. Sequoia NF, Near Kennedy Meadows, CA. Located in the Sequoia National Forest, near Kennedy Meadows, CA, volunteers will join the Northwest Service Academy to remove windfalls blocking the trail, and conduct basic tread and drainage repairs. There is the potential for rock and timber construction on this project. Volunteers will hike in 2-3 mi to the Rockhouse Basin Backcountry Camp, where they will set up camp, and hike 3 mi each day to the worksite. Volunteers will be able to enjoy volunteering their time in this wild and scenic river area. No experience necessary. Tools, training, and meals will be provided. This project is recommended for volunteers with advanced fitness levels due to significant elevation change and/or strenuous work activities. Advance registration is required.
