8 - 18 Aug 2011, Mon - 2nd Thu. Escondido Ridge. Okanagan Wenatchee NF, near Roslyn, WA. Volunteers will join the NWSA AmeriCorps team as they re-dig tread, reconstruct drainage features, clear the corridor, and remove any deadfall or blowdowns. Three volunteer positions are available. Camping will be backcountry, hiking distance 9-11 miles, with pack stock assistance for tools and kitchen supplies. Hiking distance from camp to project site is 1-2 miles. Fitness Requirement: Level 3. Advanced fitness levels. Project may include longer hikes of 5 miles or more, backpacking, significant elevation change, strenuous work activities and/or need for prior backcountry experience.
