13 - 15 May 2011, Fri - Sun. High Cascade Forest Volunteers (HCFV) Trail Skills College. Westfir Intermediate school. TRAINING EVENT. The PCTA and HCFV will conduct a joint training and certification program at Westfir Intermediate school (just west of Oakridge on Hwy 58). Tent camping is provided on the field behind the school; RVs can be parked at the front and there is a hook-up (fee) campground nearby. Full food service (breakfast, evening meal) is provided. The event runs from Friday morning to Sunday evening with 4-hr and 8-hr sessions on all days. In addition to the Trail Skills College, certification courses are offered in First Aid, CPR and saw certification. Instructors are provided from the trail volunteer community, PCTA staff and National Forest Service employees. A mixture of classroom and field sessions. The school has flush sanitation and hot showers. Field classes are conducted on low elevation trails in the nearby Willamette National Forest.
