8 Mar 2011, Tue. Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Oregon side. USFS Herman Work Center. A winter clean-up is much needed for an important access to many trails including the southbound PCT. We'll clear old Herman Creek Rd. of logs, boulders, and branches - this is the road we use to land crew and tools for Trails 406, 408, 447, and 406E. Shuttle to project from USFS Herman Work Center. Exit I-84 at Cascade Locks and drive east until you cross under the freeway. Continue east on the frontage road to the Work Center, and meet there at 8:30 am. There will be some heavy lifting early in the day, but not much hiking. Bring warm gear, rain gear, lunch, water, and extra gloves. We'll bring the rest, including hard hats and all tools. Crew Leader: Bill Hawley. If you're available, please contact Jack Konner, Tel.: 503-579-2841, Email: jjk-jsk@comcast.net
