26 - 28 Aug 2011, Fri - Sun. Sonora Pass Project 2011. Humboldt-Toiyabe NF, Carsonora Area. Another in the bi-annual effort to remove sloughed material from the trail tread and repair snow and water damage. This project is listed as strenuous due primarily to altitude (10,300 ft) and related conditions. As well as the daily hike of up to 2.5 miles from the trailhead. Volunteers will assemble the night before (the 25th) at the campsite which is 1 mile east of Sonora Pass on Hwy 108 and on the north side of the highway. Due to sporadic arrival times volunteers should be prepared to supply their own meal on the 25th, all other meals are provided as well as kitchen facilities and cooking. Volunteers should be prepared for mountain weather and must provide their own shelter, sleeping gear, eating utensils and personal hygiene items. Long sleeved shirts, leather boots and gloves are required. Hard hats will be provided. As a reward, the scenery is spectacular.
