The spectacular Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) follows the ridges and mountain tops that circle Lake Tahoe. This 165-mile, twenty-four inch, single-track trail is open to hiking, equestrians, and mountain biking (in most areas). Roughly half of the trail is in Nevada and the other half is in California. The TRT exists because of the dreams and dedicated efforts of thousands of volunteers who built and continue to maintain the trail. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is a volunteer, non-profit 501(C)(3) organization established in 1981 to plan, construct, and maintain this 165-mile, twenty-four inch, single-track trail, which is open to hiking, equestrians, and mountain biking (in many areas). The complete trail work schedule is available after January and is accessed via the above Web site. You can also become a custodian of a "Maintain a Mile" trail section.
