The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club was officially incorporated in 1927 and is now the third largest trail organization on the East Coast. Actually, three quarters of PATC trails are unrelated to the Appalachian Trail. Volunteers are the backbone, heart, soul, mind, and muscle of the PATC. With volunteer effort, PATC maintains 1000 miles of trails. There are five PATC chapters, which will be identified on this and the pages that follow.
