The LPFA is the official non-profit cooperating association for the Los Padres. LPFA volunteers provide a number of needed services ranging from wilderness patrol to acting as site stewards for our precious heritage resources to helping us take care of our trails to providing interpretive and educational services at our visitor centers. Volunteer Wilderness Rangers (VWR) provide a number of critical volunteer activities in the backcountry areas of Los Padres National Forest. These include trail maintenance, patrols, repairs to structures, historic buildings and other equipment--whatever needs to be done that the Forest Service can't. LPFA is offering regularly-scheduled training sessions in the use of equipment such as chainsaws, hammer drill and generator, percussion devisces (Magnum Blaster), other power tools and the like. The goal is to develop a trained cadre of volunters who have skill in the use of trail maintenance and trail building equipment.
