One of the missions of the Kentucky Trails Association is to involve volunteers in developing and maintaining the statewide system of hiking trails. This system involves trails and crews as follows: Pine Mountain Crew www.pinemountaintrail.com, Mammoth Cave National Park www.nps.gov/maca, Friends of the Trail www.kytrailriding.com, and the Red River Gorge Crew.

Red River Gorge is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest. The Red River Gorge Trail Crew meets on the second Saturday of the month to add value to the trails of the Red River Gorge. On some projects they walk the trails, trim back brush, use crosscut saws to remove fallen trees, or just plain move dirt. Other times they are building bridges, learning traditional outdoors type skills, and creating brand new trails.
