The Chinook Trail Association is a citizen organization dedicated to the development of a 300-mile recreational loop trail loop encircling the Columbia River Gorge. The Chinook trail will connect with existing trails such as the Pacific Crest Trail and communities in the Columbia River Gorge area. Its name honors the Native Americans who lived along the Columbia River for 10,000 years. Completion of the Chinook Trail will come only with an enormous amount of cooperation among local, state and federal agencies and private land owners. Each year, hundreds of volunteers join CTA work parties. We schedule 25 - 35 work parties each year. Generally, our work parties are held every other Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. To check on specific trail maintenance events, click on Volunteer and then Calendar of Events on the above Web page.
