The Arizona Trail will eventually be a 790 mile non-motorized trail that traverses the State from Mexico to Utah. In 1994 the Arizona Trail Association was founded to promote the Arizona Trail as a unique and outstanding recreational and educational resource, and provide opportunities for citizen to become involved in the development, maintenance, use and enjoyment of the Arizona Trail.
A current volunteer project is to complete the Cienega Corridor Construction Project, a 25-mile segment of the Arizona Trail beginning at Saguaro National Park in the Rincon Mountains and working south to the Santa Rita Mountains. Another link in Saguaro Park will be added to connect to the trail as it heads north into the Catalina Mountains. See Cienega Corridor Construction Project Web page.
